French
French is a wonderful and useful language to learn. In fact, French is the most widely taught second language after English. It is spoken in fourty nine countries around the world. The vast majority of the secondary schools that KPS feed into teach French to VCE. This includes Kew High, Balwyn High, Camberwell High, Canterbury Girls Secondary, Melbourne Girls Grammar, Koonung Secondary and many private schools including MLC, Ruyton, Carey, Trinity, Genazzano, Xavier, Wesley, Scotch College and many more.
"Languages attract bonus points for university entrance and, after scaling, marks in French are more valuable than for most other languages" (The Age, October 2003)
The program is co-ordinated and taught by Madame Carla Temple. Carla has a degree in teaching French in the Primary School BA (Ed), has taught in France, taught English as a Foreign Language and led Study Tours with International Students.
In addition to class lessons, Kew Primary School also offer students the opportunity to participate in the after school clubs with a choice of languages – French, Spa
nish, Italian, German and Mandarin. Details are available from the school office.
