The Kew Community Kitchen is a whole school community initiative established to utilise the canteen space to:

• provide nutritious, freshly cooked or prepared alternative food choices for the students, teachers and parent community outside of existing allocated Canteen days

• support and enhance the existing healthy food education program at school

• support the ongoing use of the vegetable garden and other environmental developments within the school

The following broad guidelines for the initiative were established

• To provide a community facility where nutritious meals can be prepared

• To provide a facility that actively engages the wider school community

• To enhance the existing healthy food education program at the school by providing hands-on food preparation experiences for the students

• To help create a healthier future for us all

• To follow the KPS "Guidelines to use of Canteen"

The Kew Community Kitchen involves a team of supportive staff and parents within the school community who are passionate about providing nutritious and healthy food to the students and supporting the schools healthy food education program.

It is a project that is developing organically with the first initiative being Soups for lunch on a Wednesday. Many of the school community have enjoyed the soups and we have made the recipes available here for you to be able to replicate at home. We hope you enjoy!

The Kew Community Kitchen supports the existing process of ordering through the canteen by using LUNCHMONITORS. If you wish to order soup or any other lunch option that develops please make yourself familiar with the process of ordering by visiting www.lunchmonitors.com.au

If you would like to find out more or become involved in any way please contact the office or drop into the Kitchen on a Wednesday soup day.
