Parent Involvement
At Kew PS there is an extremely high level of parent input in all aspects of school operation.
The school benefits from many examples of parent/community involvement including:
- School Council
- Parents and Teachers Association
- Sub committees of School Council- Education, Buildings and Grounds, Canteen, Out of School Hours Care.
- Classroom Representatives
- Classroom Helpers
- School Canteen
- Special Education Activities (science week, artists in schools week)
- School camps and excursions
- Physical Education and Interschool sports program
Research tells us that parental involvement in schools has a positive impact on student learning and engagement. The Family-School Partnerships Framework developed by the Australian Government identifies the principles for effective partnerships and highlights strategies that schools and families can use to guide and develop partnerships. The framework can be accessed at www.familyschool.org.au
