Performing Arts
Performing Arts Program
We have a flourishing Performing Arts program with students discovering and extending their skills and knowledge in Dance, Music and Drama. We have a slightly greater focus on Music with all students encountering opportunities to plan, play, create, practise and perform frequently over the year. Classes often perform at Assembly for the school, however performing within, and to, their own class group is a key feature of the curriculum.
Year Three Four Musical Play
In Term Four, 2009, Year Three and Four students are developing their first Musical Play. This play will be presented to parents on Monday 14th December (3RC, 3PI,3PT, 4NR, 4SH); and Friday 18th December (4WH). The times will match their normal Performing Arts lesson time. Students will begin the show with a short rendition of their latest recorder piece. Parents come along and be amazed at their skill!
Year Six Graduation
Year 6 students are beginning to plan their Graduation ceremony now. We will prepare a fabulous anthem to perform at this significant event.
New Music Centre
Last year the new Music Centre was completed. A spacious room is now being used by our enthusiastic students. We have space to dance , spread our music equipment, and perform for grades and parent groups. The Audio Visual equipment was installed recently and we are using the camera, ipod, computer, projector, screen and microphones.

Major Musical Production in 2010
Next year we will be launching into auditions for Beauty and the Beast in Term One! Families are urged to plan their holidays ensuring they will be at school up to and including the final week of Term Three. This musical play will be the highlight of our two year cycle, just as Aladdin in 2008 was!
Year Six Leaders and "Kew You've Got Talent!"
Students Justin, Lydia, Elise and Max have planned, organised and run this talent competition through Year Two to Year Six. These four highly motivated senior students auditioned dozens of talented Kew P.S. students for their "Kew You've Got Talent" competition. These judges took their responsibility very seriously and selected the best of these acts to perform for parents and the school body at Assemblies. Congratulations everybody!
