Science Week 2008

Science Week activities

In 2008 hundreds of events were held across the country as part of National Science Week, cementing its title as Australia’s largest festival.

National Science Week ran from 16 ‐ 24 August.

Now in its 11th year, National Science Week attracts over 700,000 event participants across Australia, with a further 160,000 taking part in school activities.

National Science Week is a community‐based program with many local events and initiatives run by teams of volunteers across the country.

Events take place at museums, schools, pubs, universities, public lecture theatres, libraries, even zoos, with the majority of events being free and open to the public.

Whether you’re fifteen or fifty, a science professional or an amateur, National Science Week has events for all ages, interests and expertise.

National Science Week is proudly supported by the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research as well as industry bodies such as CSIRO, Australian.

Kew Primary celebrated Science with a number of class based activities which culminated in an 'egg dropping' contest by the whole school.
