At Kew Primary School we have a wonderful sense of community and active parent involvement. It is easy to find out about what's on, simply sign up for the newsletters, bulletins and blogs and keep visiting the school website for the latest information. The assembly on Friday afternoon at 3pm is a great time to drop by, chat to other parents and catch up on what's happening around the school.
There are many opportunities for you to become involved in the school community and we have several parent/teacher groups that operate to enhance the school and make it a better place for our students, including:
The PTA (Parent Teacher Association)
The Kew Primary School PTA has 2 goals. Our first goal is to encourage a strong sense of community, where everyone feels that they belong and relationships can grow that help support the school and benefit all students. Secondly, we help fund raise to make improvements to our school.
KPS has always had a high level of parent involvement, which has been wonderful for the school community. Lasting friendships are made and the students love having their parents/carers involved in the school. We welcome new members and any help you can offer at our events.
Building and Grounds Committee
The Building and Grounds committee role is to oversee the maintenance and usage of school buildings, grounds and facilities. This may include undertaking research prior to making recommendations to School Council on capital projects as well as overall assessment of general maintenance requirements for the buildings and grounds.
One of the key areas where the committee looks for support and contribution is school working bee days which are run regularly throughout the year. Parents/carers involvement can be in organising the projects as well as on the day coming to school and helping out. The days are always lots of fun and usually we'll put on a BBQ. The kids are always part of the day and enjoy taking pride in their school.
